Facebook Targeting using Facebook Audience insights
Facebook is a wonderful Advertising platform but only when it is handled properly,
if you are not using Facebook audience insights section well then you will lose a lot of money like a lot of marketers are losing.
When you directly go to Ad creation & go for audience selection,
then when you choose interest-based targeting,
it is a very vague audience that you get, that is not the correct audience you are looking for,
Facebook takes all the people who are interested in your niche and also it takes their Friends who have sometimes liked one of the related post or some other connection but these people are not really interested in your Product.
But correct Facebook Targeting can be done using ‘ Facebook Audience Insights’ inside of Facebook,
I have a different strategy which is combining ‘Google Adwords‘ with ‘Facebook Audience Insights‘
and then do Facebook targeting and trust me the results have been brilliant.
If you will watch the video above,
you will see for yourself how you can use them both in your Facebook Audience Insights.
I will also put a few screenshots below so that you can get a glimpse in case you can’t watch the Video,
but again I highly recommend you to watch the Video because this is super valuable.
Alright let’s go to the steps:
1.) Go to Google Adwords, click on Tools and then click on Display Planner.
2.) Then click on this option
3.) Put any Website name which is highly relevant to your target niche in the ‘Landing Page‘ option (generally the website which is on 1st page of Google search results), and then click on ‘Get Placement Ideas‘
(I am using ‘Baseball‘ here as my target niche)
4.) Make sure your country selection is where you intend it to be
5.) You will see some very relevant websites after the search results
6.) Now you go to Facebook Audience Insights where actual Facebook targeting would be done, and select ‘Page Likes’
7.) What we are actually looking at is the ‘High-Affinity score‘
8.) Now in Interests, you can start putting the name of Websites which you had found in Google Adwords,
and you will see some very relevant Facebook Pages will come up,
the more relevant Keywords/ Websites/ Facebook Pages you will put,
the better affinity scores you will see
9.) See some Good Affinity scores, this is where the actual money lies in,
high-affinity scores will mean better Facebook audience insights which will mean better results of your Advertising campaign.
(I know this can get little confusing if you haven’t seen the video, so do watch it)
So, this way we come to the end of this Facebook Audience Insights.
I know by using this technique you will start crushing it on Facebook Ads,
you can work in any niche with this technique and you will find best Facebook targeted traffic.
So start using it and do let me know if you have any doubt/ suggestion/ or even a compliment 🙂
My comment section below is waiting for your comments, and yes you can share it with your friends too.
Ta Ta….
Hi. This is great training and thanks for going to the trouble of doing it.
I have a question, if you wouldn’t mind.
What is the minimum / or even the optimum affinity score we are looking for?
Hey Rod,
Good to meet you 🙂
Maximum it can go to as high as possible,
minimum don’t take less than 20 …
But again condition applied here is
* Niche A – where the average affinity score is around 80-100 or even more (on a higher end), then don’t go till 20
* Niche B – where average is around 40, then take minimum of 20, but not less than that
Thanks a lot for the response. Appreciate it. I started off with each individual affinity score very high (. But as I added each one, the affinity score came down to 35.9 with an audience of 1.0 – 1.5 million.
But when I Add USA Baseball (affinity 94), the overall affinity for all entries drops to 32.4, but the audience jumps to 1.5 – 2.0. Which would be the best to run with?
What size audience should I aim for to test my first ad? Some people seem to say 250,000 – 500,000, others say 1,000,000, others say up to 10,000,000.
I appreciate your help with this.
Hey Rod,
Case 1 – When you are looking to make your content go viral, for example, a Video in which you are looking for more views and more shares, in that case you should select a wider audience.
Case 2 – In case you are promoting any affiliate offer, or lead generation campaign, then I will recommend going only with high affinity scores.
How about case 3? When it has high affinity scores and wide audience?
I have also added you to my email notification list, so that I can notify you of any latest blog/tutorial which I write/shoot.
Hope that will be helpful for you.
Let me know if you have any other query 🙂
Thanks again!
Most Welcome 🙂
What if the affinity score is high but the pages are somewhat not related to what you are looking for? Eg, tight shirt but ended up becoming short sleeve shirt?
Do we need to expand interest(100-150k) after finding 1 interest with a high average of affinity score?
